How to install Coldfusion Express with MySQL on Slackware 9.0

This is targeted at Slackware 9.0 dist. We will begin with the installation and configuration of MySQL. I used swaret to find out the current version of mysql available, and did a swaret --in-all mysql, which installed "mysql Ver 12.21 Distrib 4.0.15a, for slackware-linux (i486)" on my box. Obviously you do this as root ;)

When you've finished installing MySQL

Installation of Apache

Just install from the Slackware CD, or use swaret. Once installed, Apache will configure itself automatically. Also, edit the /etc/rc.d/rc.M file to run the apache httpd daemon. You normally have the rc.httpd in /etc/rc.d/ after the installation of apache is over. Check that it is executable, and that the following is present in the rc.M file:

if [ -x /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd ]; then
. /etc/rc.d/rc.httpd start

Installation of Coldfusion

Its too late to tell you that I am talking about ColdFusion Express 4.5.1 which you can download from here.

Extract the file with gunzip and tar, and in the created directory run the install program. Use common sense and remember to experiment when the program asks for information -- but do not let it configure Apache. I've never done it and wouldn't recommend it to anyone running Slackware.
