jmf 4 windows
cross-platform java pckage, which includes:
* windows performance pack
* solaris performance pack

set WIN2000/XP PATH&CLASSPATH
Setting the environment variables can be a huge pain - esp. w/ WIN2000 or WINXP. Here are some hints. As win98/95 is pretty much straight forward so i have not included it (just write in c:/autoexec.bat)..

get jmf for Linux from here.. i got this one and it worked for me.. i guess you can also try the java extension version - it is in the same directory..

jmf diagnostics
if you think you have set up everything correctly, try the diagnostic page if you see:
JMF Version... 2.1.1a

Win32 Build
Native Libraries Found
or something similar then every thing should be OK.

jdk1.3.1_02 - all platforms
the jdk1.3.1 , though 1.4 is available - i'd rather get the tested 1.3 one, however either one should do the job
